If you live up in Marquez Knolls, the El Medio Bluffs, or near Los Liones, it's worth checking studios just over the line into Brentwood or down PCH toward Santa Monica Canyon. Drive times can be shorter than fighting Sunset traffic into the Village, and you'll often find more availability for longer services like full sets or pedicures.
Match the Service to the Palisades Lifestyle
The climate here is mild and dry most of the year, with marine layer mornings and a lot of beach and trail time — Temescal, Los Liones, Will Rogers. That tends to shape what holds up well: shorter, sturdier shapes for hikers and tennis players, gel or structured manicures for people who are in and out of the ocean, and pedicures that account for sandal weather basically year-round.
If you're after nail art, Japanese-style gel, or non-toxic and pregnancy-safe options, call ahead. Not every Palisades salon carries the specialty product lines you'd find on Montana Avenue or in West Hollywood, and technicians' specialties vary widely from chair to chair within the same shop.
